Engineering Hot Shot, Alun Hunt joins the TriCIS team

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Alun Hunt as Engineering Manager at TriCIS Ltd. Alun joins us from Leonardo, one of the UK’s leading aerospace companies supplying defence and security equipment to the MOD.

With more than 25 years experiences, Alun has enjoyed senior engineering roles at Industry leading organisation such as Sun Microsystems, Thales Avionics and DRS UK/Leonardo. He brings with him a proven track record of developing pioneering new products and product improvements within the fields of electronic warfare test systems, airborne and naval communications systems and rugged computers for the military.

A true team player, Alun enjoys nothing more than developing the people around him, harnessing their combined capabilities, whilst also improving processes and implementing growth strageties with the ultimate aim of creating an environment for innovation.

However, it’s not just his longevity in the sector and exceptional people skills that make him stand out from the crowd. Alun also shows a level of passion, dedication and pride in his work which, combined means he has developed an almost intuitive knowledge of excemplary engineering. On a practical note, Alun still sees his cutting-edge product development as one of his greatest achievement.

Alun says, “Coordinating the development of the world-class RW104EP Rugged display computer was a real highlight of my career and seeing it deployed in service around the world is a real buzz. However, my engineering piece de resistance was a design I completed for Cobham Avionics. The design replaced an obsolete RADAR processing board to make it smaller and more effective – reducing cost and improving performance for our clients.”

Within this brand new role at TriCIS, Alun aims to utilize his engineering know-how and proficiency in the sector to bring an even greater focus to the custom engineering capability within the company. He will play a leading role in the creation of the new research and development facilities in Farnham – due to open late summer – and implement an engineering growth strategy to support TriCIS’ projected expansion.

Alun says, “After 13 years as Engineering Manager and CTO within a large and established team at Leonardo, I am looking forward to taking on a new and exciting challenge with TriCIS. As well as being a relatively young, dynamic and fast-paced company developing new and innovative capabilities, TriCIS embraces collborative working and a customer centric approach which i am very much looking forward to being part of.”

Away from work, tech-loving hiker Alun can either be found tinkering with with his home automation and computing systems or enjoying a long walk with his family and dogs.
